The situation

Three plants on ECC 6.0, a close that took nine days, and a custom-code estate nobody wanted to re-implement. The board wanted a date. The plants wanted a weekend.

What we did

  • A fixed-price assessment that separated what had to convert, what could be retired, and what finance needed for the first close.
  • Two dress rehearsals of the technical cutover, including the interfaces the plants use on Monday morning.
  • Custom objects reviewed one by one. Just over a third were retired rather than carried forward.
  • Hypercare staffed for the first close, not only for the weekend.

What changed

The conversion finished inside a 38-hour window. Production started Monday with no unplanned downtime. The first month-end close on S/4HANA finished in four days.
